the smash

a classic cocktail category described by jerry thomas in his 1862 cocktail book  “how to mix drinks”  as containing one part base liquor, lemon or lime juice, mint and a sweetener. common variations of this drink are the whisky smash, gin smash and cognac smash.  it is a test of the bartender’s skill to prepare these drinks with different base spirits and maintain the perfect balance of sweet and sour… we have listed some spirits below, choose one and let the bartender prepare the perfect smash for you. tequila, rum, vodka, gin
